Twins 12 month update

(Feb 27-March 27)

ONE year!  The boys continue to learn new things and I'm amazed at how they just keep growing!

Some highlights from the month:
On March 2 my nephew Corbin was born!  We were thrilled to hear the news.  The gender was a surprise and now the boys get to pass all their boy clothes on to their new cousin.

We had one last good snow storm.  It snowed all day and I had off school.  Woohoo!  We didn't really get to take the boys out in it though.  They're too young to play in the snow and enjoy it.

The boys got to meet one of my best friends from high school, Liz!  I'm so glad I got to catch up with her and she got to meet the boys!

A playdate with their buddy James!
Kyle and Tyler are such clowns when they eat.  They “sing” together and shake and wobble their heads back-and-forth.
They LOVE feeding themselves finger foods.  It started with sliced banana and puffs.  Now they like anything and everything chopped up!  We are still doing some purees too or use the hand mill/grinder.  They love chili and different soups, and teething wafers too.
We finished the last can of formula on March 18 and made the switch to whole milk.
Last can.  Woohoo!
We stopped giving bottles in their cribs before nap and bed.  I also started brushing their teeth before bed.  It only took a couple of times for them to get used to it.  Now they actually like it and will open their mouths for me easily.

We got a Citymini double stroller off of Craigslist for when they outgrow the Snap and Go/infant car seats.  Yes, we are still using the infant car seats!  They are just so much easier!  And they love them.  Though I'm sure they'll be hitting the max height/weight very soon.
Testing out the new stroller.  They look so little in it!
The boys love doing “so big” and put their arms straight up.
They look at board books by themselves and like to turn the pages or feel the touch and feel books.
They learned how to wave “Hi” and “Bye” on their b-day weekend.   They love when you sing any song.   They started throwing a few toys down the cat door.   They prefer to walk over crawl.   Sometimes they will hold on to the side of the baby gate and step over it instead of crawl.  They like to drink their bottles while walking around.  They love Baby Genius videos, especially Mozart and Friends.

We went to James Till's first bday party.
Kyle climbed the (straight and carpeted) stairs at the Till's house.  He was a natural and was so happy with himself!   We got a new retractable gate for the bottom of our steps so he can't go up at our house.

The boys have a tradition of watching the recycling and trash trucks on Tuesday mornings from the window when Pappy and Nana are here.  They love getting on the couch and looking out the windows and playing on the soft cushions.

We got rid of the coffee table since they just kept bumping their heads on it and we needed more space.  We have the desk area gated off but they have the living room and middle room to play and walk around.  They can play in the kitchen too but we have a gate there if we want to keep them out.

Kyle's 1 year stats: 30" long, 20 lbs, 6 oz

A few times Tyler was fussing and Kyle took his lion Wabbunub to him.  How sweet!
Kyle will often gladly finish Tyler's bottles for him.
Kyle had been waking up a lot cut 2 top left and right lateral incisors teeth.

Tyler's 1 year stats: 29.5" long, 18 lbs, 9 oz.

Tyler started hitting Kyle in the face and pulled his hair.  (Uh oh...it begins...)
I saw Tyler do this when he wanted the same toy and another time when I was changing Kyle's diaper on the floor.  Kyle didn't react. Tyler pulls my hair too and thinks it's hilarious.
Tyler got a 4th top tooth (lateral incisor).  He has 6 teeth total!  4 top, 2 bottom.
Tyler LOVES cords.  One day he was playing with the kindle charger cord for about 20 minutes, just walking and shaking it around.
Tyler claps his hands now - especially when you sing “If you're happy and you know it” or say "Yay!"

A little comparison... so thankful for two happy, healthy kids!

We celebrated the boys' first birthday with family on Sat. March 28 with a “twinion” (minion) themed party.
